£14m Chelsea player agrees terms to join Premier League rivals, ‘expected soon’

The set of players Chelsea decided to take to the Club World Cup gave plenty of signs over which individuals are in Enzo Maresca’s plans at the club.

Very few players who spent the 2024/25 season away from Stamford Bridge were selected for the trip to America, and the decision seems to have paid off as the Blues prepare for the final against PSG.

Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have been the two big-name additions to the squad, and the money already spent by the club on new signings will see them needing to move on some players in response.

With an ambition to avoid a similar story to last season with the ‘bomb squad’, Chelsea are working hard to secure sales already.

Djordje Petrovic agrees terms to join Bournemouth from Chelsea

One player who has been strongly linked with a move away is Djordje Petrovic, despite many calling for him to be the new number one following an excellent loan spell at Strasbourg.

Alarm bells were there when a video emerged showing Petrovic not keen on returning to Chelsea, and now his future is set to be elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Petrovic has agreed terms to join Bournemouth, with a deal expected to be confirmed soon.

He said: “After official bid sent on Wednesday as revealed, Bournemouth are confident to get Djordje Petrović deal done. Understand Petrović has already accepted to join. Final green light from Chelsea, expected soon.”

The Serbian would be replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga after his loan spell on the South Coast came to an end. He has now moved to Arsenal.

Djordje Petrovic’s crazy demands to Chelsea

Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, the goalkeeper wanted assurances in order to convince him that he should remain at the club.

Petrovic demanded to be the number one at Chelsea for the new season, with this clearly not something they were able to promise him.

This resulted in him not travelling to the Club World Cup, with Robert Sanchez donning the gloves for the tournament so far.

At this point, it looks as if the Spaniard will start the new season in goal, with not all Chelsea fans convinced that this is the best possible solution.
