Chelsea are now close to selling Kai Havertz to Real Madrid in a ‘mega’ deal after Karim Benzema left for Saudi Arabia.

That is according to BILD in Germany.

As rumours about Kai Havertz departing Chelsea gather pace, let’s take a look at the details…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Mundo Deportivo – the Germany international is unhappy at Chelsea and would welcome a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Now, Havertz may be about to get his wish.

BILD believe the £150,000-a-week man is viewed as a dream signing by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti, with a ‘mega deal’ now said to be on the way to completion.

The German news outlet believe a deal has the potential to be finalised very quickly after Benzema left for Saudi Arabia, as Chelsea need to offload some players this summer.

BILD add that Real Madrid also wanted to sign Havertz in 2020 – although he preferred a move to the Premier League at that moment in time.

Chelsea eventually ended up sealing a £75.8m agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.

However, things have not been easy for Havertz in west London – the German has scored just 32 goals in 139 appearances since moving to Chelsea.

Now, Havertz could be following Mason Mount out of Stamford Bridge – the Telegraph believe Chelsea’s No.19 has agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

Pochettino may be disappointed by Havertz to Real Madrid

Judging by other reports, it sounded as if Mauricio Pochettino was looking forward to working with Havertz.

Simon Phillips told his followers on Substack that the Argentine is a fan of the Chelsea No.29 and admires his talent.

The journalist said: “I am told that Havertz is liked by Mauricio Pochettino.”

Therefore, Pochettino may be disappointed to lose the Aachen-born forward.

Nevertheless, it is always a risk to keep an unhappy player against his will, so if Havertz really is keen on a move to Real Madrid, Chelsea should strive to ensure the deal goes through.
