£17m Chelsea forward is set to leave the club on loan this summer

Chelsea look more than happy to loan out one of their youngsters this transfer window.

There have already been quite a few arrivals at Stamford Bridge.

Last week, Chelsea signed both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City and Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

Departures are only inevitable now as the Blues try to maintain a good squad size.

Deivid Washington, Cesare Casadei and Lesley Ugochukwu are just a few players who are candidates to leave the club on loan.

Chelsea ready to give youngster his first senior loan

The likes of Washington, Casadei and Ugochukwu barely played for Chelsea last season.

Considering that, loan moves could be good for both them and the club.

They can get regular minutes elsewhere, while Chelsea reduce the size of Enzo Maresca‘s squad.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Washington is actually set for a loan move this summer.

Speaking about the young forward on Substack, he said: “Deivid Washington is set for his first senior loan move this summer, but we have not yet heard about any destinations.”

Chelsea signed Washington from Santos last August for £17m. He managed to make just two appearances in the Premier League under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Why Deivid Washington is unlikely to play at Chelsea this upcoming season

Washington was ignored last term and the same thing will happen this upcoming campaign if he remains at Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson is the team’s first-choice striker and the club have now brought in Guiu, who is expected to be part of Maresca’s squad.

There is still time left in the transfer window for Chelsea to sign another centre-forward, so Washington could easily end up becoming the fourth-choice No.9 in the new season.

Simply put, the Brazilian is not going to play at Chelsea during the 2024/25 campaign, so a temporary exit is probably what is best for him.

It is something that the Blues look keen on, so expect Washington to be one youngster who the club loan out this transfer window.
