Stoke City are currently in discussions to sign Bashir Humpreys on loan from Chelsea

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

They claim that Championship club Stoke have entered talks with Chelsea to try negotiate a deal for Bashir Humphreys.

It is explained that the 20-year-old defender is expected to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge before leaving on today’s deadline day on loan.

The report adds that several English Football League teams alongside Stoke have shown interest in the Blues youngster. There’s been interest from sides abroad, too.

Humphreys, who’s come through the Chelsea academy, started and played well in Wednesday night’s 2-1 win against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. Incidentally, it was just his second ever senior appearance.

However, the emerging talent is set to get his first-team minutes away from Stamford Bridge looking ahead to the rest of the season.

If you’re a Stoke supporter, you should be very excited about the prospect of getting Chelsea’s youngster.

Humphreys has performed excellently in pre-season around Mauricio Pochettino’s senior group.

The Englishman is a talented centre-back with great pace, maturity and strength. He’s got the versatility to drop in as a right-back as well, something he did against AFC Wimbledon.
