Chelsea are likely to keep hold of Trevoh Chalobah beyond the January transfer window.

That is according to a report from FootballTransfers.

Trevoh Chalobah, 24, has received plenty of links in the transfer rumour mill with a potential exit away from Stamford Bridge.

However, the defender’s fitness could now wreck any plans.

FootballTransfers has now claimed that Chalobah is unlikely to leave Chelsea in January because of an injury problem that’s seen him miss the whole first half of the season.

It is explained that Jose Mourinho’s Roma are interested in signing the English centre-back.

However, the Chelsea player is probably going to stay in West London until the summer.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano said via Substack a couple of days ago that Chalobah plans to take his time on deciding his next move.

We’re still waiting to hear something concrete from Chelsea regarding the fitness of Chalobah, who continues to appear on the injury list without any extra information on a possible return date.

The versatile defender will face real stiff competition for places when he’s back available, but it does feel like the writing is on the wall for his future due to the amount of exit speculation.

It would be a real setback if he spends the first half of 2024 on the sidelines because a year out of anyone’s career is huge, especially in your twenties.
