Nathan Baxter could now play in the Champions League next season after being told he can leave Chelsea for free.
That is according to the Evening Standard.
So, what are the details involving Chelsea and Nathan Baxter? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Nizaar Kinsella believes Chelsea have told the 24-year-old he can leave for free this summer after 17 years at Stamford Bridge without making a senior appearance.
The London-born glovesman spent the 2022/23 and the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Hull City.
Now – however – Baxter could be playing in the Champions League with Maccabi Haifa after Chelsea failed to qualify for any European competition.
The Evening Standard believe Maccabi Haifa have found out about the Chelsea shot-stopper’s Jewish ancestry, which means he would go down as a homegrown player and not take up an overseas slot in their squad.

Therefore, the Israeli outfit have already made an offer to Baxter, and hope to have a deal wrapped up before their Champions League first-round qualifier in the middle of July.
Reading are also keen on the goalkeeper’s services, but he is unwilling to drop into League One after two seasons in the Championship with Hull City.
Champions League football would be a dream for Nathan Baxter after Chelsea struggles
Baxter has been shipped out on eight different loan spells by Chelsea since emerging from the academy in 2016, including a stint with the Metropolitan Police Football Club.
It has been seven years of difficulty for the glovesman – who felt he was good enough to play for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel – as he continuously has to prove himself in different environments.
Now – however – Baxter could make the dream move to a Champions League side, which would be quite the experience after years of fighting it out in the English Football League.
