Chelsea target Elye Wahi has now decided that he wants to join West Ham – after the Blues saw a £23m bid rejected.

That is according to Foot Mercato.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Elye Wahi? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it was L’Equipe who claimed that Chelsea had a £23m bid rejected for the France Under-21 international earlier this summer, which is backed up in Foot Mercato’s new story. Montpellier demanded £30m.

L’Equipe added that Wahi was keen to complete a move to Stamford Bridge, but according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea plan to send the striker on loan to Strasbourg if the Blues do end up securing his signature.

Now – however – the Montpellier No.21 has changed his mind, and wants to join West Ham.

Foot Mercato believe Wahi has decided to team up with David Moyes at the London Stadium despite interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, PSG and Eintracht Frankfurt.

It is said that the 20-year-old’s transfer situation will now accelerate in the coming days, with all parties just waiting for West Ham to submit a bid.

Wahi put his name up in lights throughout the 2022/23 campaign with 19 goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances.

Chelsea have bigger priorities than Elye Wahi

While it would have been nice to sign a potential star of the future and loan him to Strasbourg, Chelsea have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Mauricio Pochettino and those on the recruitment team at Stamford Bridge are now working hard to improve the first-team at Chelsea, after placing a large focus on sales in the first half of the summer.

Moises Caicedo has been signed, with Romeo Lavia and Michael Olise close to following the Ecuador international to west London.

The trio were among the best performers in the Premier League last season, so with these three gems arriving at Chelsea, there surely can’t be any supporters annoyed about the Wahi situation.
