Chelsea may have some convincing to do if they are planning on signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has been speaking to GiveMeSport, Benjamin Sesko is in no rush to leave Leipzig.

The 20-year-old is just one centre-forward who is being linked with a move to Chelsea as they look to strengthen their attack.

Italian outlet Calciomercato has claimed that both AC Milan and Chelsea are interested in Sesko and that he could cost up to €50m (£43.3m).

Benjamin Sesko in no rush to leave RB Leipzig

Jacobs says Sesko is not pushing for an exit at this moment in time.

Discussing the Slovenian forward’s future, Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “Manchester United were one of the clubs and even Chelsea as well, taking a very serious look. But with Sesko, he obviously decided to bide his time and keep his development within the Red Bull group, moving in 2023 from Salzburg to Leipzig, and his development has continued in the Bundesliga.

“This season, he has scored three goals in eight games and I think it’s six in all competitions, off the back of 18 goals last season for Salzburg. But the player is in no rush from what I’m told.”

Why is Benjamin Sesko not in a rush to leave RB Leipzig

While a deal was agreed last year for Sesko to join Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg, he only arrived in Germany this summer. It is not a surprise, then, that he is not looking for a move right now.

Sesko has started the season well and the Bundesliga has proven to be a good league for young players to develop in in recent years.

The likes of Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho all moved to Germany and developed into excellent footballers there.

Still just 20, Sesko will be hoping to follow suit. In a year or two, perhaps the Slovenia international will decide to leave the Bundesliga, especially if his development goes as well as Haaland’s, for example.

All things considered, while you can never say never with Chelsea, we are not expecting Sesko to be the striker the club sign in January if they do decide to strengthen in that position.

But hopefully someone does come in when the winter transfer window opens, as scoring goals has been a huge problem for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season.
