It looks like Chelsea could end up forcing Conor Gallagher out of the club in the January transfer window.

Conor Gallagher has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino this season, making 17 appearances in the Premier League under the Argentine.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the 23-year-old would actually be willing to remain at Chelsea and fight for that regular spot if he lost it.

However, he has also claimed that the Blues will still listen to offers of around £50m for Gallagher.

Chelsea have spent so much money in the last few transfer windows, while Gallagher’s contract is running down, explaining why there is a willingness to part ways with the midfielder.

Conor Gallagher content to fight for Chelsea place

Gallagher’s willingness to fight for his spot at Stamford Bridge is another reason for Chelsea to keep him.

Overall, he has got the right attitude, never really complaining despite not always being a starter and being shopped out by the club.

The Englishman has some good attributes as well, such as his ability to win back possession.

This season, Gallagher is in the top six Premier League players for tackles, making 47 so far. Sometimes, he can be a bit rash and reckless.

According to WhoScored, he is committing 2.3 fouls per game, the most in Chelsea’s squad. The England international has also picked up one red card. It is definitely something he needs to work on.

Nevertheless, you can see why Pochettino likes him so much. However, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss is going to have to prepare for the possible departure of his midfielder, and he has even admitted that he cannot prevent an exit in the new year.

At this stage, Gallagher looks more likely to leave Stamford Bridge than stay there.
