Chelsea could miss out on one of their targets this month as he moves closer to agreeing personal terms with another club.

Chelsea are keen to strengthen their squad after encountering problems in defence and attack.

For example, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are both injured, while Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable for selection.

Manchester United’s £60m winger Alejandro Garnacho is being targeted by Chelsea amid Mudryk’s absence, but bringing him to Stamford Bridge will not be easy for the Blues.

Alejandro Garnacho close to Napoli agreement

Chelsea will have to act quickly if they still want to sign Garnacho from their Premier League rivals this month.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are close to reaching an agreement with the 20-year-old over personal terms.

The Italian club will be desperate to get this deal over the line, having just lost Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.

Kvaratskhelia had also attracted interest from Chelsea, but the Blues did not make a move for the Georgian in the end.

Chelsea may have to sell before signing Alejandro Garnacho

One thing that seems to be holding Chelsea back from making an official offer for Garnacho is their need to offload players.

Corriere dello Sport’s report claims that Chelsea have to sell before they can make a proper attempt to sign the Argentine.

There should be exits this month, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi all being linked with moves away from west London.

Once departures take place, then maybe Chelsea will submit a bid for Garnacho. AC Milan want to sign Nkunku but only on loan. There could be a lot of that this month, partly because of the Blues’ high valuations.

Based on the above, though, it looks like Chelsea need permanent exits and not temporary ones. Until then, Napoli are likely to remain in the driving seat for Garnacho, who could replace Kvaratskhelia at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
