Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior did not get the brand new central defender that he was hoping for in the January transfer window.

Chelsea were able to recall Mamadou Sarr from his loan at Strasbourg, but it was well-documented that they wanted to sign Jeremy Jacquet.

In the end, the Blues failed to strike an agreement with Rennes for the 20-year-old, allowing Liverpool to swoop in and acquire his signature.

In the summer, though, Rosenior could still get his hands on a new centre-half.

Murillo ‘keen’ on move to Chelsea

Chelsea have targeted Nottingham Forest’s Murillo in the past and could make a fresh move for the Brazilian in the next transfer window.

Journalist Simon Phillips has revealed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Murillo is still on the club’s radar and is “keen” on a move to west London.

The 23-year-old is one of Forest’s most important players, so they will not want to sell him. However, you can easily imagine Murillo pushing for a transfer.

Forest are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and may not even be in the division next season. They are currently just six points above the relegation zone.

If Sean Dyche’s men go down, they definitely have no chance of keeping hold of Murillo, especially if Rosenior and Chelsea come sniffing.

Murillo a much more sensible signing than Jeremy Jacquet

Some Chelsea supporters will be disappointed that the club missed out on Jacquet. But if they land Murillo in the summer, it will not matter.

The Brazil international is a more experienced footballer than Jacquet and is already familiar with the Premier League.

Last season, TEAMtalk claimed that Forest wanted £60m minimum for Murillo. Liverpool paid the same fee for Jacquet.

Jacquet may very well come good for the Reds. But at the same price, Murillo is the better option. At some stage, you would expect him to get a big-money move to another Premier League outfit.
