Rob Green was left blown away last night by Chelsea target Rafael Leao, who scored a fantastic goal in Portugal’s win against Switzerland at the World Cup.

Portugal thrashed Switzerland 6-1 yesterday at the World Cup to set up a quarter-final clash at the weekend against Morocco.

AC Milan winger Leao, 23, is part of a super talented Portuguese squad.

The rapid attacker came off the bench for all three of his nation’s group stage matches, so it wasn’t any big surprise he got another cameo display in the last-16 victory over Switzerland.

He only entered the action in the 87th minute during the closing stages, but still had time during his performance to score his second goal of the tournament.

The Serie A forward whipped his right-footed finish into the far corner from inside the box during stoppage time.

Rafael Leao goal against Switzerland

BBC pundit Rob Green hailed the mini display from Leao on Tuesday night:

“He is a player of outstanding ability. If you have seen him play for AC Milan you know that is a Rafael Leao goal,” Green told BBC Radio 5 Live (8:53pm, 6 December).

“He is a talent to bring off the bench, blimey. He is a proper talent. Another wonderful goal.”

Journalist Carlo Garganese recently told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea are competing with Real Madrid for the signature of Leao.

The left-winger might not be able to force his way into Portugal’s best line-up yet, but he’s surely very close to doing that.

As well as impressing on the World Cup stage during the minutes he’s had, Leao is enjoying an excellent campaign at club level with Milan. He’s had 16 direct goal contributions in 20 appearances across all competitions this campaign.
