AC Milan could now try to sign £45m Chelsea player in January

AC Milan have done a lot of shopping at Chelsea lately and they may not be finished yet.

In recent transfer windows, Milan have signed Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori. So who could be next?

Well, according to Calciomercato, the Italian giants could consider bringing Trevoh Chalobah in on loan in January.

If Milan or another club want to sign him permanently, TEAMtalk claims he could cost up to £45m.

Chalobah is yet to play a game this season because of injury and his days at Stamford Bridge now look numbered as the Blues look to offload him.

AC Milan could be a great move for Trevoh Chalobah

Tomori, a central defender who rose through the Chelsea academy just like Chalobah, continues to thrive at Milan. Right now, he is easily one of their most important players.

According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old is making 1.5 interceptions per game in Serie A this season, the highest average in Stefano Pioli’s squad. He is also making 2.4 clearances per game, more than any other Milan player bar Malick Thiaw.

At Milan, with game time, Tomori has developed into a good defender. If Chalobah moves there, perhaps he could develop in a similar manner.

He has made good progress at Chelsea, but with the 24-year-old falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, that progress is going to be halted now.

Mauricio Pochettino currently has Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in his ranks. Considering that, Chalobah is going to find game time in west London hard to come by.

Looking at how things have gone for Tomori at Milan, then, it would not be a shock if Chalobah considered moving there if the former Serie A champions made a move for him in the January transfer window.
