Chelsea actively working on Gvardiol deal

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea are currently trying to engineer a move for Gvardiol, albeit nothing is agreed yet for the RB Leipzig centre-back.

It’s expected that the Croatia defender will be moving on at some stage in 2023.

“The player knows in 2023 he will go to a top club. Let’s see if it’s going to be January or the summer,” Romano claimed on his YouTube channel.

“Chelsea are actively working on it, but there are also other clubs. Nothing is agreed yet between Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol. Clubs from Spain and England are keeping an eye on this top player. It’s almost impossible for Italian clubs.”

Described as “phenomenal” by Mateo Kovacic, Gvardiol is a player linked with Chelsea during this World Cup tournament.

It’s a positive step forward that Graham Potter’s side have now made their move for the Leipzig star, but it doesn’t sound like there’s anything concrete yet.

For certain, the left-footed centre-half looks like he would be an incredible coup for any top club across Europe.
