Chelsea are now close to agreeing personal terms with Crystal Palace No.7 Michael Olise – the Blues hope to get a deal done after signing Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

So, what is the latest on Michael Olise and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Daily Mail – Chelsea are angering Crystal Palace with the way in which they have pursued the winger this summer.

Nevertheless, the Blues are not going anywhere, and plan to make a serious push for Olise once deals for Caicedo and Lavia are wrapped up.

The Evening Standard believe Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with the France Under-21 international, who RMC Sport believe would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge over Manchester City.

Nizaar Kinsella adds in his story that Chelsea want to agree a deal worth around £45m with Crystal Palace.

That might seem cheap for a talent like Olise – who was only beaten on assists by Kevin De Bruyne, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard last season in the Premier League.

However, according to Ed Aarons of the Guardian, the 21-year-old has a release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park worth slightly more than the £35m sum that has been flying around in the media, so it may just be set at £45m.

Chelsea would thrive with Olise in the XI

In our view, Olise – who Ben Foster called an “outrageous” player – is talented enough to take Chelsea up a gear.

In Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool, the Blues looked very sharp and also organised at the back as Mauricio Pochettino’s side grew into the game.

However, there was something missing in the No.10 role, where Liverpool left a lot of space for a player like Olise to cause havoc, although such a profile was not on the pitch for Chelsea.

Therefore, if the Blues can bring the Londoner to Stamford Bridge, and get him to gel with the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, Chelsea could become one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League.
