Chelsea are now willing to loan Marc Cucurella out before Friday’s transfer deadline – after agreeing to let Romelu Lukaku leave on loan as well.

That is according to The Athletic.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spain international has not featured in any of Chelsea’s three Premier League games so far this season.

Mauricio Pochettino does not seem to appreciate Cucurella – according to The Athletic, some staff members at Chelsea are even frustrated that the Spaniard hasn’t been sold yet, and want him gone.

Now, an exit could happen for the £63m man.

The Athletic believe Manchester United are interested in signing Cucurella after Luke Shaw suffered a serious injury, and have held talks with Chelsea about a loan move.

It is said that Chelsea would consider loaning the 25-year-old out.

The Chelsea No.3 is not exactly an important player under Pochettino, as the Argentine can also call upon Ben Chilwell or Ian Maatsen to play on the left of defence.

Marc Cucurella deal could work out for all parties

In our view, Cucurella should push to join Manchester United on loan.

A switch to Old Trafford would give the left-back a chance to play Champions League football under Erik ten Hag, where he could restore his damaged reputation.

That would, of course, help Cucurella’s career, but it would also ensure Chelsea have a better chance of selling him for a decent fee.

As things stand, the Blues would be lucky to receive even £20m of their initial £63m investment back.

A move to Manchester United would also trim Pochettino’s bloated squad, reducing the risk of a senior player like Cucurella growing upset about a lack of game time and causing issues.
