Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that there are currently no discussions regarding Chelsea swapping Romelu Lukaku for Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Reports claimed last week that Graham Potter was interested in bringing the England captain to Stamford Bridge as one of his first major signings as the club’s new manager.

With Antonio Conte’s love for Chelsea loanee Lukaku, there became speculation that the Blues may plot the ambitious move when the Belgian returns to the club next summer.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Inter Milan, where he helped end Juventus’ Serie A dominance alongside Conte in 2021.

However, Romano has claimed that a potential reunion between the pair is currently not on the table, with the striker himself only keen on playing for one team next season.

No news on Lukaku and Kane swap

He said: “Rumours of Chelsea and a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku, because we know Antonio Conte’s a big fan of Romelu Lukaku, he was fantastic at Inter with Conte as a manager. But as of now, there is absolutely nothing on this story. As of today, nothing is going on between Tottenham, Chelsea and the agents regarding a Lukaku/Kane swap deal.

“Just a rumour, nothing else. Also because Lukaku is 100% focused on Inter and Inter have already had a discussion with Chelsea for a potential second season of loan next year for Lukaku.”

While Kane would undoubtedly be a fantastic addition to the Blues attack, the deal is unlikely due to Spurs’ resistance to sell their talisman in the past.

Manchester City’s well-known interest in 2021 was held off by the London club, despite the player’s reported desire to leave.

The striker is also still very important to his club, with current boss Conte describing him as ‘world-class’ on multiple ocassions.

As for Chelsea’s situation regarding Lukaku, they should look to get themselves out of the scenario as soon as possible, with supporters now already completely over the failure the transfer has turned out to be.
