Aston Villa have now reportedly entered the running to sign a player who’s a long-term target for Chelsea.

The Blues have already signed Barcelona youngster as one forward in this summer transfer window.

However, Chelsea have been linked with so many attackers in recent months.

Aston Villa are now looking at Ivan Toney

Journalist Simon Phillips has now claimed via his Substack on Wednesday that Villa are looking at Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney as a potential transfer target in this summer window.

It is explained that Villa are eyeing Brentford’s £40m-rated centre-forward.

Phillips adds that Chelsea have held an interest in Toney well over a year. In fact, he was mentioned internally again just last week.

Apparently, the 28-year-old has plenty of admirers at Stamford Bridge, but not everyone is on board with making a move to sign him.

As it stands, nobody has made a solid move yet for the Brentford frontman.

Chelsea should act first

The Chelsea Chronicle would love to see the Blues ramp up their interest in signing Toney.

He’s got the potential to be a great addition for Chelsea, especially at the quoted £40m price tag.

Toney has played in all of the top four divisions in England. His overall record in the Premier League is 36 goals in 85 matches.

The powerful striker has excelled when leading the line of Brentford, but we’re confident he could do even better with better quality around him.

Described as “remarkable” by Thomas Frank via Brentford’s official website, Toney is a quality player with a real presence in the final third.
