Aubameyang comments on potential reunion with Tuchel ahead of Chelsea medical

Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has arrived in London for a medical ahead of a potential reunion with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

According to an earlier report from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Barcelona had agreed a €14million (£12m) deal for Aubameyang, which would also see Marco Alonso go the other way.

The 33-year-old, who registered 11 goals in 13 starts in La Liga in the second half of last season, will reportedly sign a two-year deal with an option for a further year at Chelsea.

Ahead of the expected move, the striker has been spotted London for a reported medical ahead of the transfer, and answered a few questions in a door-stop interview.

“I’m back,” the Gabon international told Sky Sports’ Gary Cotterill (via Football Daily).

When asked about a potential reunion with Tuchel, he responded: “It’s nice, though.”

The former Arsenal striker spent a few seasons working under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and even had his best season under the German, in which he registered over 31 goals in Bundesliga in 2016/17.

Considering the lack of output among Chelsea forwards this season so far, Tuchel would hope that Aubameyang could at least be a short-term solution to their attacking problems.

The Blues have only scored six goals from their five Premier League games this term, while having already conceded eight goals.
