FC Barcelona reportedly remain interested in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante on a free transfer, with the Catalan giants hopeful of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a similar deal.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the La Liga leaders are eyeing up a move for the French international if Kante decides to reject a new contract with Chelsea, though as per the report, the Blues remain in talks with the midfielder over renewing his stay in west London.
Kante has spent the majority of the season out through injury, with the former £30m Leicester City man only now just making his full return to the pitch amid what has been a year to forget for the player and the club, and Barcelona could now offer the 32-year-old a way out.

Indeed, as per the report, Barcelona have made free agents their main targets for the summer, with Xavi Hernandez hopeful that Chelsea can release Aubameyang from his contract at Stamford Bridge in order to facilitate a move back to Catalonia at no extra cost.
And Barcelona could now look to bring in Kante in a similar deal, with talks between the midfielder and the club seemingly coming to a standstill as the west Londoners fall closer and closer to letting the Paris-born superstar leave for absolutely nothing this summer.
Chelsea can’t allow Kante to leave for Barcelona this summer

Kante’s importance to Chelsea cannot be understated, with the midfielder one of the few players in the 32-man squad who has a definitive place in the team and can help the Blues lift themselves up back to their former selves under their new manager.
And as a result, Chelsea should not be putting themselves in a position where Kante can leave the club for free, especially to a rival in Barcelona where the Frenchman could thrive under Xavi in one of the most exciting teams in all of Europe.
