'Been told': Romano says he's heard Chelsea are about to make second bid to sign 'super talented' player

Chelsea are reportedly preparing another bid for Leicester City’s key defender Wesley Fofana.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reports on Twitter that Chelsea are getting ready to make a second move for the 21-year-old this summer.

This comes after L’Equipe claimed an opening £63million bid from the Blues for Fofana was rejected.

Romano adds the Foxes centre-back does actually want the move to Stamford Bridge to take place.

Fofana, who could reportedly cost over £80million, is already such an important player at the King Power Stadium at his young age.

It was very noticeable how much Leicester missed him when he was absent for a large chunk of last season through injury, but his return in the final months of the campaign was a real boost.

Leicester have proven themselves to be quite shrewd operators in the transfer market in recent years, so perhaps the Blues have their work cut out to get their target.

It seems like Thomas Tuchel’s side are determined to get their man in defence.

Described as “super talented” earlier in the year by Paul Merson, Fofana is a player that remains in Chelsea’s sights.

The thought of lining up Fofana in a back three alongside Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly is one that should really excite supporters. In addition, you can chuck in the quality of the wing-backs to make such a solid foundation.

Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling, who both moved to the Bridge this summer, are individuals in their prime that should make an immediate impact.

Despite being just 21, Fofana has the potential to immediately improve this line-up as well.

The French centre-half is clearly someone you’d be investing in as a long-term player, but his displays in the Premier League suggest he’s ready this summer for his big transfer.
