'Big club': Forward likened to Haaland and reportedly wanted by Bayern says he wants to play for Chelsea

Chelsea apparently have an admirer in the form of a teenage sensation Ricardo Pepe.

In an interview with TUDN, the FC Dallas forward revealed his ambitions of one day pulling on the fabled dark blue jersey.

“I am still young and have a lot to learn,” said the 18-year-old marvel.

“I would like to play at Real Madrid one day. Or Chelsea, or another big club.”

Understandably, followers of the Blues might be scratching their heads a little.

Who is this young super fan with desires to stand in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd?

Pepi the pupil

Although he is stationed on the other side of the globe, Pepe is turning heads all across Europe.

Attention that’s been caused by the striker’s sizzling MLS form.

This season, the American international has scored 13 times in 27 league appearances.

He became the youngest player in the competition’s history to bag a hattrick, doing so against LA Galaxy in July.

His Dallas senior debut only arrived two years ago, but the centre-forward’s talent were clear from the outset.

Pepi’s domestic performances earned him a first call-up to the USA national team for their most recent World Cup qualifying fixtures.

Against Honduras, he scored and assisted twice on what was his maiden first-team match for the Stars and Stripes.

Coincidently, he featured alongside Christian Pulisic, the man who calls Chelsea his footballing home.

Small world.

But this is not the only connection that might excite supporters of Thomas Tuchel’s boys in blue.

Haaland’s heir?

“I’ve talked to people, I’ve talked to Luchi, and they always say that I play a similar style to Lewandowski or even Erling Haaland,” said Pepi, referring to conversations with Luchi Gonzalez, his Dallas coach.

If you don’t know Pepi, you will certainly be aware of the two other players mentioned.

Both Haaland and Lewandowski have been linked to Chelsea in the past.

They are arguably the game’s greatest pair of no.9s right now, to even be mentioned in the same breath is honorable enough.

But could Bayern Munich be looking to Pepi as Lewandowski’s successor?

According to Calciomercato, Bayern have the Dallas attacker firmly on their radar, along with Juventus and AC Milan.

Ajax are also in the picture, as confirmed by the man – or young adult – himself.

So Chelsea, if you want to fulfill Pepi’s dreams, you’d better move quickly.
