Ethan Ampadu completed his move away from Chelsea yesterday to join Leeds United on a permanent transfer.
Championship side Leeds have now landed their first signing of the summer by bringing Ethan Ampadu to Elland Road on a four-year deal.
The 22-year-old’s been on the books at Chelsea for the past six years, but he’s made just 12 first-team appearances for them during that time. He’s still been developing and growing as a player through various different loan spells in recent years, though.
Now, the Wales international’s future lies away from the Blues.

Ampadu uploaded a post on his Instagram yesterday celebrating his arrival as a Leeds player.
Brighton’s Billy Gilmour, who was similarly sold by Chelsea after being deemed not quite good enough, has posted a four-word response in the comment section.

Ampadu and Gilmour is a combination some may have jotted down as a future Chelsea midfield at one stage, but both players look like they’ll go on and have successful careers elsewhere.

We definitely see Ampadu’s transfer to Leeds as one step back to take two steps forward.
The versatile youngster, who can play equally well as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, must be sick of relegation battles in recent years.
He’s definitely good enough to be playing top-flight football in one of Europe’s best leagues, but it feels crucial he now finds a permanent home at this stage in his career.
We will have to wait and see if he fits into the category of one that got away for Chelse.
