Borussia Dortmund in talks with Chelsea talent's representative over potential loan move

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a potential loan deal after he asked to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Seth.

It is often overlooked that Hudson-Odoi is still only 21 years old considering he has been part of the first team at Chelsea for several years already.

His path to the first team is quite different from many other Chelsea academy products who mostly have to spend years on loan before earning their spot.

Hudson-Odoi, on the other hand, was officially promoted to the senior squad at just 17 and had no loan experience.

However, he has yet to establish himself as a regular starter at Chelsea, although several injury spells, including serious Achilles issues, clearly had a big impact on his development.

He was reportedly close to joining Borussia Dortmund on loan last year before Chelsea blocked the move, likely due to the late timing of the collapsed move which would have left the club without any replacement.

But his situation at Chelsea has not changed in the past year.

He made just 11 starts in the Premier League last season and played as a wing-back, rather than his preferred left winger role, on many occasions.

Now the young winger has reportedly informed the club that he wants to leave on loan.

Sky Sports’ Seth claims that there are a number of clubs interested in the winger, including Premier League clubs, but Dortmund seem to have made the first concrete move.

“Hudson-Odoi’s representatives are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a loan deal,” the reporter explained on Twitter.

“They will talk to all interested parties before making a decision on his next move.”

Hudson-Odoi is not the only Chelsea attacker reportedly looking to leave the club. Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Timo Werner is very close to a permanent return to RB Leipzig.
