Brendan Rodgers four word response when asked if Chelsea want Fofana

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has given a simple four word response on Thursday when questioned about Chelsea transfer speculation to his player Wesley Fofana.

“No, not at all,” Rodgers responded when asked if he’s aware of any Chelsea interest in Fofana.

This comes after a report claimed last night Chelsea are interested in signing Leicester’s 20-year-old defender Fofana.

Foot Mercato claims the Blues have already contacted representatives of the young centre-back, who would reportedly cost up to £78million next summer. In addition, Manchester United are names as transfer suitors.

The Fofana speculation has gathered pace due to the fact the player himself has admitted Chelsea are one of the clubs he’s dreamed of playing for.

Wesley Fofana pivotal to Leicester

Of course, Rodgers has downplayed any rumours about Fofana in his Thursday press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match at home to Chelsea.

The quick centre-back was one of his club’s outstanding players during the 2020/21 season, which was his first taste of English football. However, an injury in pre-season means he’s yet to get on the pitch this campaign.

It’s no surprise that Chelsea are supposedly in for him, though.

With the futures of several Blues centre-halves unclear, it makes sense to be chasing one of the division’s best young defenders.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this one pans out because traditionally Leicester have ended up selling their best players at a premium price.
