Some Chelsea fans are in disagreement after the Blues are reportedly closer to reaching a deal over Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell after “a breakthrough” in talks.
According to a report from The Times, Chelsea are closing in on Frank Lampard’s top target.
The report, however, also mentioned that the Foxes value the England international at close to £80million, a similar fee they received from selling Harry Maguire to Manchester United last summer.
The negotiations between Chelsea and Leicester have recently “yielded a breakthrough” over the proposed transfer fee which could be a world record for a left-back currently held by Lucas Hernandez who cost Bayern Munich £68m in 2019, the report added.

Chilwell featured in 27 Premier League games this season, netting three times and provided three assists as Leicester narrowly missed out on a top-four finish.
The reported interest from Chelsea has divided opinions from the Chelsea fans, as you can see from some of the replies to Chilwell’s latest tweet.

Some argue that the defender is not worth the reported price tag and Chelsea should go for a cheaper alternative instead, while the other section of the fans say they would back the manager’s reported interest in Chilwell.
Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has also opened up about his admiration for Chilwell and said he would like to see the 23-year-old join the Blues.
He told talkSPORT back in December: “I would love to see him at Chelsea. He’s doing really, really well at Leicester.
“I think he’s quality and I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here.
“Whether he would want to leave, or if Leicester would want to sell him, that’s something the clubs would have to talk about.”
