With the January transfer window fast approaching, it’s interesting to see that speculation is intensifying around the future of one Chelsea midfielder.

The current Chelsea squad is stacked with so much talent, especially in the centre of the park. In fact, £107m midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been occupying the bench in recent games for them.

Remarkably, the Blues are linked in the transfer rumour mill with potential new midfield signings. For example, Chelsea scouts are watching Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Belahyane.

Feyenoord interested in Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei

Tutto Mercato Web claims that Cesare Casadei is likely to push for a move away from Chelsea in the January transfer window because of his lack of football. So far, the central midfielder has only made four appearances across all competitions this season.

It is explained that Dutch club Feyenoord, who are competing in this year’s Champions League, have set their sights on Chelsea youngster Casadei.

The report says that Feyenoord are prepared to ramp up their interest in the 21-year-old Blues player to try win the race for his signature.

Apparently, the Italy Under-21 international is already receiving transfer interest from the likes of Monza, Villarreal, Betis and PSV Eindhoven.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is a big fan of Casadei, so he’s hopeful that the young talent can carve out a career at Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, he finds himself quite far down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca’s management this season.

Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka are midfield rivals in the Blues squad.

Chelsea should loan out Cesare Casadei

There’s a lot to admire about Casadei as a powerful box-to-box midfielder, so Chelsea need to try ensure they don’t lose him on a permanent basis. Instead, a temporary loan switch to give him the chance to develop further in first-team football would be ideal.

Maresca does rate “physically strong” Chelsea midfielder Casadei, but getting him into his matchday squad is a tough ask.

Casadei has made the bench for a couple of Premier League matches this campaign, but it’s a pretty damning statistic that he’s yet to get any top-flight minutes. As a result, it makes sense that the talented youngster is looking for a new challenge.
