Chelsea made an enquiry to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes during the summer transfer window.
That is according to a report from 90min.
It claims that both Chelsea and Manchester City made enquiries about Bruno Guimaraes‘ availability but did not go any further than that.

While Chelsea did not sign the 25-year-old in the end, they were still able to strengthen their midfield during the summer transfer window.
The Blues, of course, brought in both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton respectively.
Bruno Guimaraes would have been a good signing for Chelsea
Guimaraes has impressed in the Premier League since arriving at Newcastle from Lyon in a £40m deal.
Described as a “really talented player” by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, the Brazilian made just over 50 passes per game last season, which was the second-highest average in his squad (WhoScored).

He is someone who can get on the ball and really dictate things. Guimaraes also scored four goals and provided five assists in the top flight, which are not the worst numbers for a player in his position.
At the end of the day, though, Newcastle were always going to be reluctant to sell the Brazil international, who has been such a key player for the Magpies since joining them. So it is not a surprise to hear that Chelsea did not get anywhere with their enquiry.
But having signed Caicedo and Lavia, it is probably not something Mauricio Pochettino and the club have to linger on.
