Chelsea wanted to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal in the last transfer window.
That is according to a report from The Telegraph.
It claims that Chelsea tried to have a conversation about signing Emile Smith Rowe towards the end of the summer transfer window but got nowhere.

While Arsenal were determined to keep hold of the attacking midfielder, Mikel Arteta has only used him in one Premier League game so far.
Following the arrival of Kai Havertz, who joined from Chelsea, Smith Rowe looks to have fallen further down Arteta’s pecking order.
Chelsea’s move for Emile Smith Rowe
It is not hard to see why Chelsea made an attempt to sign Smith Rowe. With Havertz joining the 23-year-old’s side and Mason Mount moving to Manchester United, Mauricio Pochettino needed to bring in another attacking midfielder.
And while Smith Rowe may not be playing right now, he is still quite an effective one.
The England international has a lot of good qualities, which were easy to see during the 2021/22 season, where he scored 10 goals in 33 Premier League appearances.

Ultimately, Smith Rowe, whom Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg once described as “very powerful”, could have been a shrewd addition to Chelsea’s squad.
The Gunners did not want to sell, though, and the Blues moved on by bringing in Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
However, with Smith Rowe not a key player for Arteta at the moment and finding himself on the bench, perhaps he is someone who Chelsea could explore signing again in the future.
