Chelsea are reportedly on the brink of selling one of their young players to a club in the Championship.

With such a large squad at Stamford Bridge right now, it’ll be no surprise to see numerous individuals leave during what’s left of this summer transfer window.

Chelsea have already sold Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall and Ian Maatsen recently. Hopefully, the Blues get rid of many more to trim down the group size.

Chelsea youngster Mason Burstow, 21, is now tipped for a potential transfer exit…

The Evening Standard reported last summer that Mauricio Pochettino was impressed by Burstow in pre-season. However, it doesn’t look like there’s a future for the centre-forward under new Blues head coach Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea close to selling Mason Burstow

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea’s Burstow is closing in on a permanent transfer to Championship side Hull City.

It is explained that the young centre-forward is one of several Blues players that may be sold in the next couple of weeks.

Should Chelsea sell Mason Burstow?

Unfortunately, Burstow’s not done enough in the last couple of years while on Chelsea’s books to suggest he’s ready for their first team anytime soon.

He arrived from Charlton Athletic back in 2022 before returning their on loan. Also, he spent last season out on loan with Sunderland in the Championship, where he scored just one goal in 20 appearances.

Former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray called Burstow an “exciting” player last year, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo. However, the young talent struggled to really make his mark in the Championship last season.

Burstow needs to make big strides in the second division before he’s ready for the Premier League, so a permanent move to Hull sounds like a good deal for all parties.
