Chelsea are reportedly still interested in a move to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
Lavia, who’s just 18, was one of the surprise players in the Premier League during the first half of the season before the winter break.
The young midfielder completed a move to Southampton from Manchester City last summer, hoping to enjoy a real first-team breakthrough elsewhere.
He’s an all-action defensive midfielder that quickly established himself in the Saints XI with some eye-catching performances in the league. Therefore, a lot of supporters are very excited about him.

Chelsea interested in Romeo Lavia
Journalist Dean Jones has reported this week that Lavia is certainly on Chelsea’s transfer radar right now.
When discussing Southampton’s 18-year-old, Dean Jones told GiveMeSport: “This is a player with big potential in the game. That is one thing that Chelsea are really big on.
“Lavia is certainly somebody that they’re still exploring and that’s a position on the pitch that they’re looking to completely overhaul.”
This comes after Fabrizio Romano shared a few months ago that Chelsea tried and failed to sign Lavia from Southampton on the summer’s transfer deadline day. It goes to show the kind of impact the teenager has already made at St Mary’s that he’s on the Blues wish list.

Described as “extremely talented” by Ralph Hasenhuttl, Lavia is an excellent transfer target for Chelsea.
It’s been a seamless step up to the Premier League for the youngster and his stamina in the centre of the park is really impressive.
Belgium’s exit from the World Cup this winter should be the last tournament for some of their golden generation, but there’s a very talented crop of youngsters emerging from their country. For example, Lavia has to be a rising star due a senior call-up for Belgium in 2023.
