Chelsea are looking at former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as they try to improve their attack this month.

Roberto Firmino is one player who is currently on Chelsea‘s radar, according to journalist Dean Jones, who shared that information with GiveMeSport.

The 32-year-old only joined Al-Ahli last summer, but Jones has also claimed that the Brazilian is not completely happy in Saudi Arabia.

Firmino was one of the best forwards in the Premier League during his time at Liverpool.

His former manager Jurgen Klopp once hailed him as the “complete footballer” (The Telegraph).

Roberto Firmino on Chelsea’s radar

According to Jones, Firmino is a forward who Chelsea are looking at right now.

On the former Liverpool man, Jones said: “It’d be a completely unexpected return to the Premier League for Firmino because I think that we thought we’d seen the last of him. We know that Chelsea would be willing to go there and it’d be quite a tough decision for Firmino to make in terms of going to Chelsea, a club that he would have considered a rival for a lot of his time at Liverpool.

“At this stage, I have to say I don’t think a lot has happened here. I think it’s just a case of gauging the situation and understanding that Firmino is not completely happy in Saudi Arabia. But for sure he’s on the radar.”

Roberto Firmino a good short-term option for Chelsea

Signing Firmino on a six-month loan deal, for example, could be clever business by Chelsea.

He knows the Premier League well and would come in at a time where Nicolas Jackson may not be available — the 22-year-old is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations — and a period in Christopher Nkunku’s career where the Frenchman is struggling to stay fit.

In the summer, perhaps the Blues could then go sign a more long-term option like Napoli and Nigeria star Victor Osimhen.

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent, however, cannot see Firmino moving to Stamford Bridge this month because of his Liverpool connection.

If Firmino really is unhappy with life in the Saudi Pro League, though, then Chelsea could be a great way out of there.
