Reports recently have claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

According to The Times, the Gunners are open to selling the England international if they receive an approach which they deem as acceptable.

The Blues are considering making one more signing before the transfer window closes at the end of the week.

They have identified a creative, attacking midfielder as the number one priority, and are looking at a number of options from both the Premier League and beyond.

Their priority was signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, and despite triggering his release clause he has now signed a new contract with his current club.

Now though, it is Smith Rowe they have been strongly linked to as the window approaches its final few days.

Fabregas on Smith Rowe

Despite injuries recently, Smith Rowe’s talent has been undoubtable. He was described as ‘special’ by Jamie Carragher when he was making regular appearances.

Another big figure in football who has previously been impressed by the 23-year-old is Fabregas, who of course has played for both Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Spain legend had plenty of praise for the Gunner when he likened him a bit to himself.

He said: “Yes, I really hope so because I feel a bit identified with this group of players – with the Odegaards, the Sakas, Martinellis, Smith Rowes. I can see myself in their eyes.

“I was at the training ground recently and I saw them and they’re super good kids. Humble, they want to work hard. There is a lot of chemistry between them and we really had that.”

It remains to be seen if Chelsea make a bid this summer that matches the valuation Arsenal will put on his head.
