Chelsea are reportedly shocked that one of their players didn’t leave during the recent summer transfer window.
Despite all the criticism from fans and sections of the media, Chelsea did actually shift out so many individuals during a very busy window.
On top of the players the Blues sold, there’s now a whole batch of stars out on loan for the 2024/25 season, including several in the Premier League. Lesley Ugochukwu (Southampton), Kepa Arrizabalaga (Bournemouth), Raheem Sterling (Arsenal), Crystal Palace (Trevoh Chalobah) and Armando Broja (Everton) were all loaned out to top-flight rivals.
Incidentally, Arsenal fans were delighted to sign Sterling on loan to strengthen their squad for another league title challenge.

Chelsea surprised Carney Chukwuemeka stayed
According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea have been left ‘stunned’ that Carney Chukwuemeka stayed with them beyond the summer transfer window.
It is explained that the Blues felt certain they would be able to offload the 20-year-old before the window closed at the end of August.
Apparently, Chelsea were open to sanctioning the midfielder’s exit amid interest from West Ham and Manchester United, but nobody was prepared to meet the demands.
The report adds that Chukwuemeka could end up moving to a new club in January if he has little game time from now until the New Year. His immediate challenge is to impress Blues head coach Enzo Maresca in training to jump up the pecking order, but it’s alarming that he’s not featured in a single matchday squad yet this season.
Give him a chance
We hope Chukwuemeka is given the opportunity in Chelsea’s first team during the next few months, albeit the competition for places is quite high in the squad.
During an interview with Alex Goldberg via Playback, Leicester City’s Kasey McAteer suggested Chukwuemeka could thrive under Maresca. Unfortunately, the Chelsea boss hasn’t taken a shine to him in the early months of his reign.
With domestic and European football resulting in a pile up of fixtures, Chelsea will need a deep squad to be competitive across the board. We definitely think versatile midfielder Chukwuemeka could make a positive impact if he’s given minutes.
Speaking via Chelsea’s YouTube channel last year, Marcus Bettinelli hailed Chukwuemeka for his “unbelievable” first touch. The Englishman’s certainly a technical player with so much potential!
