Chelsea are serious about signing Dusan Vlahovic and are in regular talks with Juventus over a deal for the striker.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

So, what is the latest on Dusan Vlahovic and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Chelsea now find themselves in frequent talks with Juventus about the Serbia international following an initial enquiry a few weeks ago.

Gazzetta dello Sport believe Juventus want around €60m – €70m (£51m – £60m) for Vlahovic, and would also like to take Cesare Casadei on loan from Chelsea as part of the deal.

Tottenham are also said to be looking at the 23-year-old in case the north Londoners lose Harry Kane this summer.

There have been plenty of stories about Chelsea and Vlahovic recently, so you may be wondering why the deal hasn’t really progressed.

Gazzetta dello Sport explain that Chelsea are trying to sell Romelu Lukaku before exploring what it would require to sign the Juventus No.9 from a financial aspect.

The Belgium international looks likely to return to Inter Milan on a permanent basis, although the Italian giants have so far failed to meet Chelsea’s £40m asking price.

Chelsea could sign Vlahovic for reasonable fee if Lukaku agrees to Juventus move

As things stand, Lukaku only wants to join Inter Milan, which is making life difficult for Chelsea as those at the San Siro refuse to meet the asking price.

However, things would be a lot easier for the Blues if they could somehow convince the Belgian to join Juventus.

A story from Corriere dello Sport claims that Juventus have told Chelsea they can sign Vlahovic for £21m if Lukaku is included in the deal as well.

Given the fact Juventus spent £66.6m on the Serbian – who Filip Kostic called “the best striker in Europe” back in February, as quoted by Football Italia – that is a reasonable proposal.

Ultimately, Lukaku’s reluctance to join anyone other than Inter Milan is causing delays with Chelsea’s transfer business.

Hopefully, Simone Inzaghi’s side make a £40m bid soon, or else Chelsea may have to sit down with Lukaku and try to convince him to join Juventus instead.
