Chelsea attacker admits transfer move to AC Milan is 'one option' for him this summer
Olivier Giroud has responded to AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfer message, saying a summer move to San Siro would be an option despite a recent contract extension with Chelsea.
The Blues have announced that they have activated the option to extend the 34-year-old’s contract by one year on Friday.
A recent report from The Telegraph, however, claims that there remains a possibility that the striker could leave this summer.
AC Milan are reportedly among a number of clubs interested in Giroud.
Interestingly, Milan top scorer in 2020/21 Ibrahimovic himself has already sent Giroud a welcome message ahead of the potential deal.
“The more high-level players we can get, the better,” the Sweden international told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Giroud has great experience and we don’t have many players who have won trophies. If he comes he is welcome.”
Giroud himself seems to be flattered by Ibrahimovic’s message, although he insisted that he has yet to make a decision about his future and wants to focus on the Euros instead.
“I like his character and the way he expresses himself and his frankness, even if sometimes it’s a bit violent,” the Chelsea striker told French outlet RMC Sport about Ibrahimovic.
“It’s good, I take it as an extra motivation.
“Today, it’s out of the question to talk about my future, Milan is one option among others.
“It’s always nice to hear Zlatan say things like that.”
