Chelsea reportedly believe that striking target Victor Osimhen could rival Erling Haaland in the Premier League should Graham Potter’s side sign the Napoli star this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, the Nigerian international is a target for the Blues as the west London side look to sign a world-class striker to lead the line next season after a year to forget in front of goal, with Chelsea one of the lowest-scoring teams in the English top-flight.

The same can’t be said for Napoli and Osimhen, though, with the 24-year-old scoring an incredible 25 goals in all competitions already this season as the attacker looks set to win his first Serie A title with the Italian giants, and Chelsea seemingly have lofty plans should they sign the striker.

As per the report, Chelsea believe the former LOSC Lille man could rival Haaland should Osimhen sign for the Blues, with the Manchester City star currently on 42 goals in all competitions and on course to break numerous goalscoring records in England.

Indeed, whilst Osimhen likely won’t reach the astronomical levels Haaland is hitting with City, the Nigerian could finally break Chelsea’s striker curse that has dogged the club for years, with the attacker seemingly too good to go bad should he move to England.

Chelsea have to be certain they want to sign Osimhen this summer

With Christopher Nkunku unofficially on his way to Chelsea, the Blues look ready to blow up their attack and start all over, with Osimhen the latest piece of the puzzle to be added. Yet the west London side must be certain that they want the Napoli star at the club this summer.

As we know, Chelsea’s luck with signing strikers has been nothing short of atrocious in recent years, and whilst Osimhen ticks a lot of boxes for what Potter needs, the English coach needs to be certain that the Nigerian is exactly what the club need if they’re to progress to the next level in the new season.
