Chelsea could trim down their squad in the new year, with Enzo Maresca currently working with quite a large group.
When it comes to Chelsea‘s attack, for example, Enzo Maresca is spoilt for choice. The 44-year-old has the likes of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto to call upon.
He also has plenty of options in central defence, including Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi.
However, it looks like one of those options could be leaving Chelsea in January. Maresca was seen working closely with Badiashile in one training session before the Blues’ 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

Benoit Badiashile could leave Chelsea in the new year
Badiashile has not got too many opportunities in the Premier League this season. In fact, the centre-back has only made one appearance so far.
It now looks like he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with Foot Mercato reporting that the management at Chelsea are not against a sale in the coming months.
The 23-year-old did start for Chelsea in their cup defeat to Newcastle. During that game, Enzo Fernandez had to intervene in a confrontation between Badiashile and Joelinton.
Chelsea signed the Frenchman from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco back in 2023 for a £35m fee.
Should Chelsea sell Benoit Badiashile in January?
Colwill has described Badiashile as a “great player”, but Chelsea supporters have not really seen that.
Since joining Chelsea from Monaco, Badiashile has had a couple of bad injuries. And when the France international has been able to play, he has not always convinced.
For example, in his last outing against Newcastle, Badiashile actually made one error leading to a shot, according to Sofascore.
Ultimately, with Chelsea having Colwill, Fofana, Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo and the money to buy a new centre-half if necessary, if they do receive an offer for Badiashile in January, then they should probably consider it.
