Chelsea are now close to signing Angelo Gabriel from Santos – and plan to send him straight out on loan to Patrick Vieira’s Strasbourg.

That is according to The Secret Scout.

So, what is the situation involving Angelo and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Blues have seen a €15m (£13m) bid accepted by Santos for the Brazilian wonderkid – according to Fabrizio Romano.

Interestingly – as detailed by The Athletic – Chelsea managed to negotiate a deal for £38m less than Angelo’s release clause.

However – for those of you hoping to see the South American shine at Stamford Bridge next season – it sounds as if the Blues have other ideas.

The Secret Scout believe talks will take place this week in order to finalise the loan agreement, after Todd Boehly completed a 100% takeover of Strasbourg and hired Patrick Vieira to be the French side’s new manager.

Strasbourg look likely to be Chelsea’s new development site, where many of the young talents signed under Boehly could end up on loan, and will be exposed to first-team football in a top European league.

Who Chelsea could send to join Angelo at Strasbourg

In our view, Angelo will not be the only talent Chelsea send to Strasbourg.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, Carney Chukwuemeka is considering his options as he weighs up whether to go out on loan, so he could move to Strasbourg as well.

Other talents such as Cesare Casadei, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, Gabriel Slonina and Diego Moreira could also end up moving to Ligue 1 if Mauricio Pochettino decides not to include them in his first-team plans next season.

Whatever happens, it is great for Chelsea to have a top-flight side in France where they can send prospects on loan to develop themselves, under a bright young coach in Vieira.
