Chelsea have announced a season-long loan deal at League Two side Stevenage for young goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.

Cumming who filled the role as the third-choice goalkeeper for Frank Lampard this season will now leave the club on a loan deal.

“The goalkeeper will be getting his first taste of senior football after acting as understudy to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero last term,” the official statement from Chelsea’s official website reads.

“The EFL season is due to begin on the weekend of 12 September following the curtailment of the 2019/20 campaign back in April.”

Cumming has been at Chelsea since the age of eight and become a regular for the academy side in 2016/17.

He signed a new four-year contract (until 2023) last summer.

Speaking about the loan move, Cumming told Stevenage’s official website: “I think it is a fantastic opportunity for myself.

“The manager was very keen on getting me in and that was a big part of me signing here.

“He has put a lot of faith in me and I am sure I will repay that. I am just really looking forward to getting started.”
