Chelsea are considering signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran this month.
Jhon Duran is a name that has been “discussed internally” by Chelsea, according to journalist Nathan Gissing.
However, there is no guarantee that the Blues will bring in the 20-year-old during this transfer window, with Gissing also claiming that Villa will need to sign a replacement, while their Premier League rivals could also hold off from buying a striker until the summer when Napoli’s Victor Osimhen could be available.
Duran has made 14 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals.
Chelsea are currently without their first-choice No.9 Nicolas Jackson, who is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

Chelsea discussing Jhon Duran
With Jackson away and Christopher Nkunku struggling to stay fit, the arrival of a new forward this month would be great for Chelsea.
Considering the above, then, it is not hard to understand why the Blues are discussing Duran’s name.
However, you cannot help but feel that the Villa man would be a bit of a panic buy. He has not really proven himself in England yet. It is hard to imagine him coming in and solving all of Chelsea’s issues.
Simply put, Duran would probably be an extra body at a time where Mauricio Pochettino needs just that.
The Blues would be better off just waiting until the summer when more top strikers will be available, but it is clear that they are ready to act now as they consider bringing in Duran from Villa.
