It looks like Chelsea may have identified their successor to Thiago Silva.
Thiago Silva has been a key player for Chelsea this season, but he is now 39 years of age and his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
And according to journalist Christian Falk, the Blues are “interested” in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah to potentially replace the Brazilian.
Silva has played in all 15 of Chelsea’s Premier League games this term, which includes the loss against Manchester United last night.
It was not his best match, with ESPN pundit Steve Nicol criticising the Brazil international after the full-time whistle.

Chelsea interested in Jonathan Tah
Silva will not be at Stamford Bridge forever, so it does make sense that Chelsea are looking at potential successors.
They have quite a young defence, with Silva the most experienced member of their backline, which is perhaps one reason why Tah has caught their attention.
He is a 27-year-old Germany international who has made over 250 appearances in the Bundesliga.
Silva has slipped up a couple of times of late, but he has definitely not been terrible for Chelsea this season and still offers so much.
Simply put, the former Paris Saint-Germain captain may not actually need replacing yet. However, letting him go and bringing someone else in does look to be an option Chelsea are considering right now.
If the player who comes in happens to be Tah, he would not be a bad addition to Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad. It is a deal that does look possible, but again, it may hinge on what happens with Silva.
All things considered, it is probably going to be another busy summer at Chelsea, who have spent so much money in the last few transfer windows under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
