Chelsea defender Thiago Silva could leave Stamford Bridge and return to Brazil before retiring.

Thiago Silva is out of contract at the end of the season and, according to TEAMtalk, there is a possibility that the centre-half will head back to the Brazilian Serie A and retire there.

Silva was recently asked about a return to Fluminense in an interview with Globo, with TNT Sports relaying his comments, but he remained coy on the subject.

However, with his contract running down, his future is going to be a big talking point in the coming months.

The Brazilian has been a key player for Chelsea this season, so perhaps the Blues may decide to extend his current deal. He has started in all eight of their Premier League games so far.

Thiago Silva thinking about his retirement

It is not a shock to hear that Silva is mapping out how he wants his career to finish. At 39, his playing days are coming to an end.

That being said, the Brazil international has life in him yet. Again, Silva has been an important player for Mauricio Pochettino this term and is still an excellent defender.

“He’s just an incredible centre-back,” his former manager Frank Lampard told Chelsea’s official club website last term.

At this rate, who knows? Maybe Silva will end up retiring at Chelsea. If he keeps playing the way he has been, there will be no reason for the Blues to let him go at the end of the campaign.

His heart, though, may be set on returning to his motherland and calling it quits there.
