Chelsea could well try to sign PL attacker that Guardiola rates if Ziyech leaves in January - journalist
Chelsea could reportedly try to sign Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window.
Zaha, who’s been the talisman at Selhurst Park for so many years, is actually out of contract with Palace next summer.
The 29-year-old left-winger continues to be a key figure on the pitch this season, scoring five goals in 10 Premier League matches so far.
However, a lot of football fans are wondering where his near future lies.
Chelsea could try sign Zaha
Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips reports that Chelsea may have an opportunity to sign Zaha in January after previously putting in groundwork with his agent during the summer.
Apparently, a transfer raid for the Palace man may depend on several factors, including the future of current Blues winger Hakim Ziyech.
29-year-old winger Ziyech is on the fringes of the squad right now at Stamford Bridge, so granting his exit and replacing him with Zaha is one that may appeal to plenty of Chelsea supporters.
Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “They (Chelsea) considered him and spoke with his agent in the summer, so with that in mind there is certainly a chance they look to reignite talks. There are many variables though on that and it is dependent on other circumstances such as Hakim Ziyech’s future and whether Chelsea are going to try and bring in any other attackers.”
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was recently raving about Zaha’s ability, explaining he’s “really impressed” by a player that can turn a game by himself with an individual piece of magic.
There’s no doubt the exciting attacker possesses the kind of speed and trickery to join an elite team.
He’s been magnificent in Palace colours for so many years, but many want to see if he could thrive elsewhere.
The latest update on Zaha is an interesting line that involves Chelsea’s Ziyech because letting him go in the New Year could make room in the squad.
Football London did report last week Chelsea boss Graham Potter is prepared to sell Ziyech in January.
Let’s see if the pieces now fall into place for the Blues to pursue Zaha in a couple of months time.
