Chelsea are admirers of Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane this summer.
That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.
Phillips has explained on his Substack that Chelsea have always liked Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who previously had a successful spell in English football with Manchester City.
He reports that a source has given him the 27-year-old’s name this week, but it’s no more than a rumour to keep an eye on at this stage.
In addition, Man City are quite eager to try re-sign the Germany international and bring him back to the Etihad Stadium for another spell.

Sane enjoyed a very strong 2022/23 season in Bayern colours, scoring 14 goals and making 10 assists across all competitions.
It’s still not enough to guarantee a spot in the Bundesliga side’s starting XI every match without fail.
He would be the outstanding wide player if you chucked him into the Chelsea squad, but we’re not fussed about targeting winger at this moment in time.
There’s no doubt Mauricio Pochettino still needs help building this squad when it comes to its spine.

Writing in The Evening Standard back in 2018, Chelsea icon Frank Lampard described Sane as a “superstar” and was blown away by his rapid pace when he was firing for Man City.
