Chelsea duo very fortunate not to be at the top of Xabi Alonso’s sales list

For some reason, Chelsea have decided to sell players who were very helpful last season and keep ones who were less so.

Marc Cucurella has been sold to Real Madrid, while Andrey Santos is set to join Manchester United.

Cucurella and Santos have stock in this market, perhaps more than some Chelsea players who could be set to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Whatever the case, it is quite frustrating to see them go and others remain. Supporters will want to see the club putting in more of an effort to offload some of the names who really underperformed last season.

Who would you start in a five-man defence for Chelsea?

Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana should be at the top of Chelsea’s transfer list

Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana are good examples of Chelsea players who were definitely not at their best in the previous campaign. Even so, it does not look like either is going anywhere for now.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that while the Blues are open to selling Adarabioyo and Fofana, the two centre-backs are not at the top of the club’s transfer list.

Based on how the two performed last term, they probably should be. One-v-one, Adarabioyo was not great.

Fofana’s defending was not amazing either, while his discipline was just not there. He ended up getting sent off twice, including in the last game of the season against Sunderland.

It is no surprise that Chelsea are trying to sign a new centre-half, with Maxence Lacroix the firm favourite to come in.

Fabrizio Romano recently shared an update on Lacroix, stating that Chelsea are still working on a deal for the Frenchman.

With France still in the World Cup, Chelsea supporters may have to wait for the tournament to end before there is any real movement. As for Adarabioyo and Fofana, there is plenty of time left for bids to come in for them, which should be accepted if they arrive.
