David Luiz has signed a contract extension with Chelsea – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted negatively to the news.
The Blues have confirmed (official website) that the Brazilian defender has penned a new deal which keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2021.

He moved back to West London in 2016 for a second spell with the club and has been an ever-present in Maurizio Sarri’s team this season.
The centre-back has made 48 appearances across all competitions this campaign, while he’s now featured in 246 games for Chelsea.
Luiz is a ball-playing defender that plays out from the back and has demonstrated his incredible range on numerous occasions this term.

He’s one of the more senior members in the dressing room given his experience and on his day is a Rolls-Royce defender.
But on the flip side he can be vulnerable to the odd mistake and a lack of concentration can be his biggest downfall.

The Blues have finished in the top four of the Premier League and reached a Europa League final with him in the heart of defence.
A selection of Chelsea fans are not pleased about Luiz’s new deal though, as they feel it lacks ambition to tie the 32-year-old down.
But there is a possible transfer ban looming and he is certainly fully committed to the club.
