Chelsea are reportedly looking at Atalanta defender Robin Gosens – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted angrily to the speculation.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Blues sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action on Monday for Italian top-flight outfit Atalanta.

The left wing-back scored one and assisted another in a 5-0 demolition of Parma in a Serie A fixture.

It is understood that the German full-back is being considered as a potential future target by Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.

Gosens is enjoying his best individual season to date at present and is thriving as a left-sided defender in the Atalanta team.

He’s currently scored six goals and supplied four assists in 20 games across all competitions, which highlights the licence he has to bomb down the flank in his wing-back role.

It’s clear to see why Chelsea’s eyes have been draw towards him, but ultimately they have a decent left wing-back in Marcos Alonso at Stamford Bridge.

The real issues lies that neither Alonso or Emerson Palmieri have consistently performed as a traditional left-back for the Blues, so it may make sense to look elsewhere for an upgrade.

Lampard has preferred a back four despite showing flexibility at times with his formations and surely the Blues should chase a proven quality left-back.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media haven’t got behind the Gosens speculation and feel he’s a poor target.
