Chelsea youngster Fikayo Tomori is being linked with a move to AC Milan – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by urging caution over him potentially joining the Italian club.
Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that AC Milan have contacted the Blues about Tomori, which he’s also confirmed is a loan approach.
It is understood that the player would accept the San Siro as a loan destination this month.
The 23-year-old defender has made just four first-team appearances this season at Stamford Bridge.
He is a powerhouse centre-back from the Chelsea academy and is blessed with lightning pace, but he’s found himself fifth-choice in the pecking order this year in the plans of manager Frank Lampard.
The Chelsea boss has even admitted the “possibility” of him leaving on loan before the January window shuts.
A loan exit, especially midway through a campaign, needs to be one where Tomori can get to work straight away with regular minutes.
But a selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are worried that won’t be the case in Milan.
AC Milan, who are currently three points clear at the top of Serie A, have emerged as genuine title contenders this season in Italy.
If Chelsea defender Tomori joins them, it could be a humongous task to break into the XI and he could face a similar challenge he’s currently dealing with at Stamford Bridge.
One supporter suggested it could be a repeat of what happened with Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu.
The Welshman barely played out on loan with German club RP Leipzig last season, but has had regular game time at Sheffield United during the current campaign.
