Chelsea will reportedly pay an initial fee of £62million to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they are getting him for a brilliant price.
According to the Telegraph, the Blues have managed to negotiate a £62million deal for the Germany international which could include up to £8million in add-ons.
It is claimed that the 21-year-old has travelled to London on Friday ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge, after leaving the German national side in order to complete his transfer.
The report explains that Chelsea’s director Marina Granovskaia managed to lower Leverkusen’s initial asking price of £72million plus a potential £20m in add-ons for Havertz.
Frank Lampard’s side are yet to officially confirm the signing of Havertz, but it appears to be growing closer and he won’t have the pressure of being the club’s record signing.
Havertz is a versatile player that is commonly an attacking midfielder in the number 10 role, but can play on the wing and has even been used as a false nine in the Bundesliga.
He scored 18 goals and supplied nine assists across all competitions last season for Leverkusen, plus he’s considered one of the big rising stars in world football.
A selection of Chelsea supporters have responded to Havertz’s potential fee and have given immense credit to the club’s transfer guru Granovskaia, who has overseen some excellent business in the window this summer.
Here are some Blues fans reacting to the £62million price tag for Havertz:
